Session Notes

Why is it hard to find joy in homemaking?

It can be easy to find – and dwell on – the joy stealers. But how can a homemaker find joy in the mundane work?

Realize you’re glorifying God with your hard work.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” – Colossians 3:23

To remember this, you need to spend time with God every day. (This will look different depending on the seasons of your life.)

Remember that homemaking, like life, is all about honoring God.

7 Practical Ways to Find Joy in Homemaking

Make homemaking fun.

  • Cheer yourself on.
  • Find like incentives and rewards.

Lower your standards. (In a good way!)

Focus on the essentials.

  • What chores are essential in your home? Focus on those and count everything else as a bonus.

Keep at least one room clean.

Make sure you’re spending time at home.

Make your bed every morning. Wash your dishes every night.

Make time for fun!
